Hi, I’m A.A. “Alfie” Rustom, a producer, sci-fi author & creative entrepreneur dedicated to crafting immersive, high-concept science fiction and fantasy narratives. CEO and founder of Defend Nature Interactive, a creator-led game studio dedicated to a thriving planet for all species, we develop immersive gaming franchises set in rich story-worlds.
The Architect’s Awakening
For fifteen years I built the global financial infrastructure that now surveils, scores, and controls billions of lives.
As a physicist turned technology executive, I helped deploy systems for some of the largest banks in the world, including World Bank, HSBC, and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China 一 systems designed to optimize, predict, and manage financial transactions at unprecedented scale. We gradually replaced human judgment with algorithmic control.
Then came 2008.
When the global financial system collapsed, I realized I had been building something far more dangerous than I understood. The algorithms we put in place weren’t neutral tools一they were designed to concentrate wealth and power while creating the illusion of fairness. I had unwittingly spent my career deploying what I now recognize as weapons of mass financial destruction.
That realization broke something in me. And from that breaking, the B.I.O.M.A.N. Chronicles began to grow.
Way back when, I attained a full scholarship for doctoral studies in quantum physics from the University of St. Andrews. My passion for world-building and multi-platform storytelling led me to establish Defend Nature Interactive which is Family Office backed. and we’ve developed and produced projects that blend myth, technology, and environmental consciousness. Humbled and grateful to be an Earthshot Prize Nominee, Kirkus award-winning author.
I’ll be sharing my work with you here, and connecting with other world builders and creatives in interesting and fun ways.
